Should I get my PCC now or wait till my file starts to get processed? The website says that PCC is valid for 1 year and if it takes more time to process the application then I will have to get another PCC.

Hey,
you don't need to enclose PCC with your initial application. Once your file is transferred to a local VO they will request for PCC together with MR. And you'll provide them with the most recent one.

Hey Singlemum

Cic clearly says you must submit an original PCC with your application. So include it. It is difficult to justify why one can't get a PCC than arranging one. Moreover PCC should not be more than 3 months old. PCC is valid for one year than why CIC said so? Simple reason, CIC know that its not so easy to get a PCC specially for people lived in multiple countries. The consider that they will finalize your application in 8-9 months so you need not to submit a new and they don't want to waste yours and their time. Let me tell you that you apply for PCC via passport office if you are living on the same address than they will issue PCC very same day.

So there is passport seva online form that I need to fill out for PCC, but some said that I can directly go to a police station and get a certificate stating that the record is clean and there are no pending cases against me. Which one is preferred and easier to get?

Good morning,

Let me tell you my experience. I applied PCC via commissioner office and they took more than 3 weeks to issue me the PCC while the commissioner is known to me. this PCC get older for more than 3 months so I get a new one via passport office and they issued me the very same day. So go via passport office.

u live in chennai?
if so go to commissioner of police office new building ground floor in egmore ( opposite to egmore station) . its fairly an easy process.

day first get to know what docs u need to submit.
day 2 submit all docs
after they call day 3 collect the certificate.

it took me total 1 week to get them.. i sent it with my initial application

and its not a crime at least to get two PCCs from passport office or police office

I got my PCC from Passport Office the same day with no Pre-Verification while my Spouse PCC was verified by Police and she got in 2 weeks.

Not advisible to go to police now,as eventually your file will come to them.
