Police clearance certificate with CIC

I am a PNP nominee with the federal application in progress. I am thinking of also applying via the CEC route as that will give the flexibility to move from the province if I ever decide to.
I have all the paperwork to submit except for the original PCC as it is submitted to CIC for the PNP-Federal part of the application.
Did anyone have similar experience ? Please can you share what steps you took?

You can submit your CEC application without PCCs and send a letter with your application
that the police cert is already on a different file. Apply for a PCC in the meantime and when
you get the AOR of your CEC application, submit the PCC to CPP-O.
