I have a question,

I was in Qatar in different dates. At the time I am having business visa and every time coming back to India and stayed here one week or two week for renewal the visa and again went to Qatar.

Staying in Qatar below dates:

18 June 2008 to 08 August 2008
16 August 2008 to 27 September 2008
11 October 2008 to 07 November 2008
22 November 2008 to 31 December 2008

Overall I was in Qatar from 18 June to 31 December 2008 its more than 6 months. But in between I have travel back to India 4 times.

Now I am planning for apply PR visa. Do I require PCC from Qatar?

Only if you lived there for 6 consecutive months.

You and all of your family members who are 18 years of age and older and who are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens will have to provide:
a valid police certificate, or
a police clearance, or
a record of no information.
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

Roger55,does that mean if you have been in the military and travelled to many different countries staying longer than 6 months each time, you have to provide a clearance from all countries. thanks.

I am no expert but I would say yes because there is no other option given. But maybe persons in the military have other ways of proving their police clearance. Please consult with the experts in this forum.

ok, thanks,i will see if i get any replys .

If you were not in Qatar for more than 6 consecutive months, then you don't need PCC from Qatar.

Hi,

I'll say if it's easy for you to get PCC from Qatar , then no harm done to include it with your full submission.

It may prove to be a time saver if the V.O. uses his discretion and requests for PCC just because your travel history is queer.

This is what I did after I made a case specific enquiry about my own frequent stays in a foreign country even though it did not amount to 6 consecutive months, on the advice of the V.O.

The decision is up to you.

A friend of mine who is applying to Canada, lived in Australia for about 7 months. That was in 1999-2000
He insisted to NOT mention it since it was a long time ago. Is it OK, what he did ?
Is there any possibilities that CIC will find out ??

DON'T EVER DO THAT IF THAT WAS CONTINUE PERIOD OF 7 MONTHS.

YOUR PASSPORT WILL SHOW THAT YOU WERE THERE. AND THEY WILL REJECT YOU EXACTLY WHEN THEY WILL ASK FOR YOUR PASSPORT STAMPING.

NO FALSE INFORMATION. Get the PCC from Australia.

Thanks, although that was not me. He is my idiot friend. I never entered Australia and I wish I did.
Now, regarding our friend, the stamps are in an old expired passport, and he is not using it anymore, and he got 2 passports since then
and none of them shows the stamps of Australia. I don't exactly why he is doing this, and I think he did crimes in Australia, but I think it's just a matter of saving time and money and efforts. He claims that they will never find out !
I argued him about that but he said, as long as it's not stamped in my current passport, and since that was a long time ago ( 11 years ago ) then it's OK. Do you also think it might be OK ?

1 Good luck to him, but he should read this http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk/10409113.stm
2 Why lie to a country that he wants to be part of? Isn't that starting on the wrong foot and taking the bad part of other countries (like corruption habits) to Canada?

Did your friend maintain an address in Australia while he stayed there? Did he have a bank account and had bank statements mailed to that account? What was he doing in those 7 months? Was he working or studying or traveling? If he was just traveling for 7 months he probably can get away without mentioning it. But if he has some kind of school or work record as well as a fixed address which he lived at during that time he needs to report it.

In the application you are made to list your whereabouts from the moment you turn 18. If you went on a holiday to another country for 2 weeks, you have to mention it.

I went to university in Australia for 3 years from 1995-1998. I went back home every holiday meaning I never stayed in Australia for more than 4 months at a time. However since I had an Australian address where I lived at, I was still asked to submit an Australian police report.

I don't know if he had an address there. He went in a business visa for 3 months and then
he applied as a refugee, so he extend his stay for 4 more months, but then he did withdraw his application before going to the court and went back to his home country. I don't know about the details or he worked there or not.

I could be wrong but doesn't the visa application have a question asking you to indicate if you have applied for refugee status before, although I'm not sure if it is to Canada only or other countries. You might want to direct your friend to these forums so that he can ask the questions himself.

i lived in canada for 6 yrs, now moved back to india for 2 yrs and applying from india. does that mean i have to provide police clearance certificate from canada as well?
