Hello,

I am an Italian citizen. I got an invitation to apply for a Canada working holiday visa and I only have 20 days to have everything submitted. In the process of applying,I came to learn of the requirement of police certificates for all countries lived in for more than six months even if it wasn't a consist period of 6 months. I lived in Russia from 2013 December to March 2014 then went back in August 2015 to October and Nov 2016 to Jan 2017. I however did all this on a tourist visa other than the 2015 visit. I was also an exhange student in the US from Sept 2008 to June 2009, had then just turned 18. I was just wondering if they might need police certificates from both Russia and the USA on top of my Italian one? And how possible I might be able to beat the 20 day deadline! Any advice will be highly appreciated please.

Thanks in advance.

Others can comment but the rules are pretty clear that police certificates are required for any country where you have spent 6 months or more since age 18 , so only days after 18.

For IEC the way around this is to apply for the certificates, instructions by country on the CIC site, include a letter of explanation with your IEC application plus a copy of any receipt showing you have applied.

It will mean that your application will likely be pended until the certificates come through and seems you have a couple of countries that might take quite some time to come through and not so easy to get although there are worse ones application wise I believe.

thanks Bs65, would you kindly please clarify on this!
So if I got you right, does it mean that I won't need the US one, right? Because I turned 18 in March 2009 then left the US three months later, in June!
