Hello everyone,

I want to sponsor my future wife. I am a permanent resident and she is on student visa in Canada. Both my wife and I are from Ukraine.

We want to go through Ukrainian CIC office, as it is way faster, only 10 months (vs inland application 26 months),

I am a little bit confused about the documents that I as a sponsor have to provide. I downloaded "Country Specific Instructions" for Eastern Eurpore". Do I as a sponsor need to provide police certificates?

Thank you,

Dmitriy

no, only the person who is applying for PR status needs to submit a police clearance. note, the applicant does NOT need to submit a report for canada, even if they have lived there for more than 6 mo. if CIC needs a report from canada, they will either run it themselves or request an RCMP check down the road. not many people get this request.

for application purposes, you are the "sponsor". you are not a "family member" or "spouse" as it is listed in the applicant forms. so you do not need to fill in any forms or submit any paperwork that is not specific to the sponsor.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I am a little bit confused about medical exam also. So we want to apply through Ukraine and we live in Canada. Can we do our medical exam in Canada? Or we have to go to Ukraine?

Thank you!

You can do your medical exam anywhere in the world providing that you do it at a centre registered with CIC.
