Hello all,

Another question!

I just read on a somewhat hidden section of the CIC website that your police certificate has to be send in no more then 3 months after they were issued.

Mine were about 5...

Should i request new certificates and send them in along with the file number or wait for them to request it?
Has anyone experienced something like this?

My application got delayed due to a problem with my work visa and did not think to renew those.

Any info is appreciated

I don't think you have to send in a new police certificate. They are generally valid for about a year. The only restriction is that the police certificate should not have been issued more than 3 months before your PR application date.

Yeah, that's what i am worried about.
I had 2 police certificates from Holland. One from September and one from March.
I don't remember which one i used from my PR and which one i used for my Working Visa.

The Canadian one was send AFTER the 3 months for sure, but that one is relatively easy to get.

The rule is not that you have to send the police certificate within 3 months. For example, if the police certificate was issued on Jan 1, then it does not mean that you have to submit it by Mar 31st.

What it means is that if you submitted your PR application on Mar 31st, then the police certificate should not be dated earlier than Jan 1. If the date of your PR application is more than 3 months from the date of the police certificate, then you would have to submit new ones.

Yeah, well i applied in June and the certificate is dated on December. So i have to resend them anyway.
I just hope they won't send back the entire package over this before i have the chance to send in new ones

Mostly, in such cases, they just ask for the new certificates. But you never know. All the best!

Wrong. Please read the instructions

Who needs a police certificate?

In general, you and everyone in your family who is 18 years of age or over need to obtain a police certificate. You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.

If the original certificate is neither in English nor in French, submit both the certificate and the original copy of a translation prepared by an accredited translator with your application.

Yeah, i am already getting new ones, just in case.

Might as well send them in before they request new ones to save some time.
