Hi All,

I just received my ITA (April 2017) and had a question about Police Certificates.

  • Been living in the USA since 2012 (received FBI Police Certificate Aug 2015)
  • Lived overseas for 4+ years in Country B for my Bachelors degree (received Policy Certificate in 2015)

I would like to know if the certificates above will be accepted during my submission or is there a rule in place for submitting within "6-months" of issuance date?

Also, I've been out of my Homeland country right before I became 18 years old (17.5 years old), do I still need to include their Police Certificate (it's from 2015, do I need to reissue a new one?)

You would need a new FBI PCC since you live in the USA.

You should get one from your home country too just to be safe. Especially if you've ever been back since leaving.

Hi, Thanks for the prompt response.

I've never gone back to my home country since getting multiple police certificates, is it safe to assume that they may not need it (I can always get one, but just asking in terms of whether it needs to be submitted?)

One final question, given that the FBI takes usually longer than 90 days to issue a new certificate, is it safe to submit my previous FBI certificate and upload a cover letter explaining that i am in the process of applying for a new one? Will they put my ITA on hold or process it in the mean time?

You might not need to, but I'd recommend getting one anyway just to make your application that much stronger.

CIC is well aware of the FBI's processing times.
