can accompanying spouse show bank statement as proof of funds?

As your spouce is included as accompanying applicant for PR, her bank statement is also valid for POF.

YES

1. You can show 100% amount in your bank account.

2. You can show 100% amount in Spouse bank account.

3. You can show 50% amount in your bank account and 50% amount in spouse bank account.

4. You can divide money in any percentage, but the total amount should be $21000.

Hi All -

Are the Bank Statements/ Fixed Deposit Statements (in indian rupees or US dollars) accepted as "Proof of Funds" even in the PORT OF ENTRY during the landing process? Please respond.

rgds, Geo

Hi

I'm afraid they are not acceptable when landing, Your funds should be in the form of:

cash, securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills) or
negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders).

Hi Mirza - Thanks for your response. Is the negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bankers' drafts, cheques, travellers' cheques or money orders) allowed in the denominations of United States Dollars? Please advice. Thanks for your help.

If FD is in your name funded by your father it should be OK

In india there are tax implications, so if you are from India please check with a CA

can father gift the money to applicant to show proof of funds

1. Visa office will not ask you from where you arrange the money.

2. You have many ways to manage POF, gift by father, selling father property, help from relative etc.

3. If money is in the bank account of principal applicant or accompany spouse applicant, It is considered as genuine and not borrowed.
