Hey all,

I need your help ASAP, Experts and any body who know and can help. I appreciate your time to read and reply.
I am on a student visa and my question is that an employer is going to hire me (part-time) but I will be paid bi-weekly and the working hours would be 25 hours in the week and 14 in the second week. The total of the two weeks would be 39 hours/2weeks (less than 40 hours). Would this be illegal because the study permits says that not more than 20 hous a week (not 40/2 weeks). Will CIC or Canada revenue know that I worked 25 hours in a week? Noting that the company uses Payworks.ca to post the weekly schedule and the employers earnings (Weekly), but the Pay slip would be for the two weeks (39 hours). Would this be a problem with the CIC? Will they know the number of hours every week through Payworks or any other way or the only way to access that is the tax slips? May Payworks send the payroll information (including the weekly schedule) to Canada revenue (including the weekly schedule)?

I am looking forward to your reply and I highly appreciate that because I am so worried and they posted the schedule of the next week and I don't know what I should do.

Thanks so much for your help

No - it's not legal. You cannot work more than 20 hours per week.

Yes - if CIC finds out, it could be a problem. Impossible for any of us to give you the chances CIC will find out.

I would recommend you either have your employer reduce you to a maximum of 20 hours per week or find a different job.

Thank you so much for your reply. Much appreciated.
I will do your advice. But, this will be the next week and he already posted the schedule. If he agreed after this time because the schedule is already posted, would just this week be a problem ? Knowing that this is my first job? Or what should I do, phone him you mean?
Sorry I am new in Canada and I don't know about these stuff.
Thank you so much for your time.

Read this and figure out yourself if "this week schedule" is ok for you.

Your problem is different but if you get in trouble, imagine what's next?

Give your extra hours to someone else. Don't work above 20 hours per week.

Please scylla and J5M, could you please tell me what is the first day and the end day of the week here in Canada. This because in this company, they post the weekly schedule from (Sunday to Saturday) but the pay period (bi-weekly) is Friday to the Friday after 2 weeks. Which one should I count my working hours according to because sometimes they are different?

Thank you

Hello , I am applying for the express entry FSW. I have worked 25hours per week while I was studying for 2 years. . this period would be counted according to hours (it would be equal to 1 year and half)?, or it doesnt matter how many hours I have worked, the part-time work experience would be half of the full-time?( this 2 years would be equal to one year?)

Work during studies does not count

Don't do it, you cannot work in term time more than 20 hours in any week.
