Hello Everyone,

If like me you are applying on your own their are bound to be confusion on what to do and not to do...
From diff forums and thread I had a lot of input already:

Please help me add up if you have info as well.

NEVER :

1. Leave any blank space in the form : If you have no answer to it and it not applicable to you ex. date deceased

put N/A and you may use pen for this....

By the way, Dear friends

I have added police certificates this time as well. When I sent out my apps the previous time(just 2 weeks ago) it was reiterated that post June 26 applicants should not send the PCC's with their docs to CIO, they would be asked later. Now it is reiterated that they STRONGLY recommend that applicants include their PCC's in complete package they're submitting to the CIO. Besides, 2 weeks ago, the copy of bio data page of PP was needed only for the principal applicant. The checklist now requires it for all family members as well.

Take care friends!

this is from obe of the threads i gathered..

dont forget to write your name in you native language on the forms where required.

thnx for this info

All the names on gathered documnets should have same spells, and it should be considered far before putting application.

this is from the thread do and dont's

To all prospective applicants,

Before we received our first aor just this week, our application was one of those initially returned back because of some missing information. just a few but important mistakes (maybe from excitement on our part) ??? so i have some tips for those who are filling out the forms and about to send your applications.

1. Download and use the pdf guide step by step as you are filling out the forms;http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp. I know its a hassle but there are some specific instructions that can help you while putting in information(e.g. putting in N/A rather than leaving it blank)
2. Since forms are always updated, always use and download the forms fresh from the website. I discourage using forms you have downloaded and saved before. (Just a precaution, as they return forms that are not updated)
3. Double-check all information before entering it and printing. What I did was I printed out the form and flled it manually first.
4. Ensure that all the information you have entered in the forms can be supported by documentation/notes. Be prepared to provide additional info should CIC require it.
5. Triple check your documents before you send it. Dont be to hasty(like me) to send it off. Let someone who did not prepare the documents(like wife/husband/brother) check the documents as sometimes if you prepared everything you tend to overlook some important details.
6.If there are some details in your application which you feel need further explanation and no space is provided in the forms, don't hesitate to include a cover letter to highlight the points.
7. Names to indicate in the forms should be as per passport.

I can't think of anymore tips, but I hope the above can help those who are still trying to compile their documents. If you have any doubts always check the guide or CIC website, I feel that all the information you need is pretty much there. Just be patient in scanning the pages.

There are a lot of us who can help you guys here. goodluck!

Guys,
just keep an eye on the application forms if they change..!!

It'd be a great help to those who are the final stage of their submission.
I hope the forms are same at least since last 2-3 months.

Just be watchful~

agreed with indira. Following docs need to be original (that means all other docs need to be notarized except the followings):
1. IELTS result
2. PCC
3. University Transcripts
4. Bank certificate/statement
5. Work exp ref. letter from employer/supervisor

I came across some fellows who made minor mistakes which resulted in either re-submission or even rejection of application.

I'd like members to share such small errors and their possible remedies to guide all prospective applicants.
It's also a sort of final check-list to avoid cost and efforts if re-submission(s).

Some of those in my information are:

1. A part left blank in the application, resulted in application returned back.
Remedy: Filled N/A and re-submitted.

Don't leave any question blank...if it does not apply to you indicate N/A. If not possible, print and write N/A by hand. If you leave any unanswered question, your application will be returned to you as incomplete. Mandie

read the fine prints.....

"transcripts should be sent in a sealed envelope"

stupid me opened the envelope and now I have to request another one again
