I received a rejection because i included the school supplies in-kind, which was wrong to do, in turn made the financial portion to be negative by $97.
Is it possible to appeal this? If so how about should go in doing so?

If the visa officer rejected you correctly, and it looks like they did, then an appeal is a waste of time and money.

Start a new application and ensure you do not make the same mistake.

Thats so unfortunate, now it'll cost $300 just for criminal record checks, and 9+ months of waiting!
How is it that they can't seem to understand that these refugees are fighting for their life and future.
Small minimal errors should be reconsidered.

Small and minimal does not mean the same to all people. In your case, I personally feel it is not small or minimal that you lack $97 to prove you can live without needing welfare in Canada. If it is such a small amount, why was it not there?

Ensure that someone checks and double checks your application before you proceed. Whoever filed the application is an adult as well who should know when to ask for help if unsure about the process.
