I am here for concern about my aunt, and she noticed several months ago that her eyes were changing. Everything closes up and is blurry, and she recently had chronic headaches. Her opthalmologist changed the prescription from a -9 to a -8 but couldn’t give any explanation. She is almost 50 and has had the same prescription for 30 years, so she finds it hard to believe her eyes have suddenly improved. She can see better with a -8, but she can’t see her monitor. The doctor gave her nasal steroids and antibiotics and told her to see a different eye doctor. She truly believes something else is happening here but doesn’t know where to start. Can anyone recommend another specialist she could consult? Any suggestions should be appreciated!

She is not going blind because of wearing glasses. Lots of people wear glasses and have 20/20 vision. Her doctor is right, if her vision is more comfortable with a -8/-8 prescription as she is seeing an improvement, then she should continue to wear the lower prescription. It is true that reading glasses are expensive and the correction is not very strong. Laser eye surgery is a good option for people who use reading glasses or contacts for all or almost all of their vision correction. The procedure is very safe and effective. She will see very well in low light and both distance and near vision will be corrected very well. You should get Laser eye surgery in Boston for her. Laser eye surgery is a very safe and effective way to treat her vision problem and she will be able to see clearly after the surgery.
Thank god Dan came to the rescue and applied so fast in the middle of the night to their question

fyi Dan you’re link is for reducing one’s stomach
Maybe the place in Boston is having a 2 for 1 sale . Eye surgery & stomach reduction

As you get older it is very normal for your prescription to change. Most adults need reading glasses to be able to see anything up close like a restaurant menu. If she is able to see with her new glasses but still has chronic headaches then she should be asking for a referral to see a neurologist.
