By "trp", I assume you mean a temporary resident visa (TRV). You only need the visa if/when you are traveling, to return to Canada.
You cannot apply for the TRV along with the BOWP. Instructions provided by CIC:

If you are in Canada and need to extend your Work Permit and renew your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), submit a separate application for the new TRV to the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa only after CIC has approved the extension of your Work Permit.

BTW - A work permit is a residence permit (along with student permit and visitors permit).
(There IS something called a temporary residence permit, that is for temporary entry to persons who have been found inadmissible in general).
