Hi everyone,
My wife, our daughter and I live in Australia. I am an Australian and my wife is from NL, we've been married almost 10 years.
We'd really like to move home next year permanently and there is SO much information that my head is spinning.
Can someone please give me a simple idea of what steps and options are available to us. I believe my wife and daughter will have no problem
obviously, but I could be the issue.

Please help!!

First things first get your daughter citizen certificate or a Canadian passport. Then take a look at the application for outland processing .Your wife can sponsor you from Australia then you will all be able to move to Canada together. Check out the threads under spousal family sponsorship, this will give you a better idea. Its not hard ,you will be able to do it yourself.

What part of newfoundland is your wife from?

CBS. I've been 3 times and I'm in love with the place!

My brother lives in CBS. My hometown is not far from CBS, called North River. It is between Bay Robert's and Clarke's Beach. 1 hour drive west of CBS.

Ah, I've been there too! My wife is a Kelligrews native.

luckily for you, Sydney is one of the fasted processing visa offices. Currently, it's taking 3-4 months for australians to land as a pr. def. start with getting your daughter's canadian citizenship, so you don't have to worry about adding her as an applicant to be sponsored.

The OP will not add the daughter to the sponsorship as an applicant as the daughter is Canadian by law assuming the wife is canadian born (most likely). But the OP does have to add the daughter to sponsorship form 5406 and 5481 under 6 B) with details of daughter's information on back page of 5481.

Stupid question again, I can get my spouse visa all sorted from Australia?
I don't need to wait until I get to Canada?

What happen is that your wife would send the whole PR package to Canada to Mississauga office. Once the office determined that your wife qualifies as a sponsor, the package then get sent to Sydney for further processing until you get approved for PR. Your wife can be with you in Australia the whole time.

The catch is that your wife have to convince CIC of her intention of moving back to Canada.

You've been super helpful thanks, but at the risk of annoying the crap out of you,
Is there a specific package of forms we ask for or are there just certain numbers?

This is the link for your outland PR sponsorship. Note in part 3 on website, Click on South East Asia and Pacific [IMM 3906] (PDF, 198 KB) based on you being in Australia.

I would also suggest to you that you start applying for your daughter Canadian citizenship certificate if daughter doesn't have one. Here is the link for that as well. Your daughter cannot get a Canadian Passport without her Canadian Citizenship Certificate.
