hello everyone,

This is Sonya from Pakistan, i'm new to this site and also to the immigration process. My parents just immigrated to canada and me and my hubby also wish to immigrate.

Below are my details, i want tto know what can be the possibilities.

According to point calculator.
22 points for your education
10 points for your age
16 points for English/French language ability
17 points for your work experience
0 points for arranged employment
8 points for adaptability
73 total points

1) BS(hons) in IT - 4yr program compeleted from distance learning university from pakistan which is Government of Pakistan's own project. (its not like online degree).
2) mba is in progress.
3) 2year work experience as a computer manager in a mobile connection company's franchise.
4) i have also done 1yr internship in government forest department (in their computer section).
5) my husband has a bacholers degree.
6) he is a professional cricketer.

My Questions:

1) Can i apply in FSW class? If yes, wht are my chances of success.
2) Can my husband apply as self-employed class?
3) I have heard that NOC is changing soon, so do u think we should wait?
4) My parents r in canada, so do u guys think i should ask my parents to file my case there or is it better to apply from pakistan?

I would really appreciate ur help..

thanks..
cheers..

1. It sounds like you have a good chance to apply under the skilled worker program, category 1 as a computer manager. You can look at http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Profile.aspx?val=0&val1=0213 to see if the job description matches what you do. If you meet all requirements, your success will be 100%. Canada immigration is not a lottery. Either you meet all requirements or you don't.

2. Your husband does not have to apply if you do. You will include him in your application as your spouse.

3. Do not wait for the NOC to change. If you qualify now, apply now.

4. Since you are not a dependent child, your parents can not apply for you.

Thank u so much leon,

I know my parents cant apply for me under family class but can they file my case in canada for faster processing?

No, your parents can not file your case for you. You have a choice of processing in your country of nationality or in your country of residence if it is not the same one. Besides, it would not be faster for you. If you look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02b-skilled-fed.asp you will see that Pakistan has an average processing time of 5 months while Buffalo which is where people living in Canada would be processed has 6 months.
