I got my rejection on Monday from the embassy. I had ticked 'no' to the question that asks whether I have been denied visa to Canada or any other country. It was totally my mistake and my carelessness that led to the refusal. I had applied for a tourist visa in January that got rejected. I talked to the agent and thought of reapplying but the college didn't give me a late start date. I will reapply for the January semester. I am really disappointed. Any help would be appreciated on how to go forward. Thank you in advance.

It's too late to get a study visa approved for September - so you're making the right decision to reapply for January. You should contact your school to obtain a letter to defer your studies to January before you reapply.

When you reapply, you'll need to ensure you answer all questions truthfully - including the one regarding previous refusals. You'll now need to list two previous refusals - the visitor visa and the study permit.

Should I accompany the application documents with a letter of explanation? A sworn affidavit by the lawyer?

A letter of explanation should be fine. Make sure to explain what your mistake why and how it happened. Still no assurance of approval, but you can at least try, if it was an honest mistake
