Hi guys.

I would like to know what are the requirements for processing student visa?
im currently on a work permit and before it expires, id like to apply for student visa.
How long does it take.for visa application? Is it a 100% approval?

Thanks in advance.

You must be accepted by a school and program in Canada before you can apply for a study permit. Processing can take a few months and no - it's certainly not 100% approval. To be approved, you will need to make sure you have sufficient funds to cover the costs of your education and that the course you have selected in Canada makes sense in light of your past education and experience.

This two links have all the information you need...

But yes before applying for study permit you need to apply for being accepted into a Designated Learning institution in Canada..... Make sure to choose the proper program according to your background education (for my experience choosing and incorrect program and lack of fund are the main reasons for refusal)...

After getting an offer letter from any DLI you may apply for yout study permit.... all this process might take you more or less 6 months....

September (fall) intake is kind of late for you so you should be looking forward for programs beginning next Year in January (spring intake)

Thank you for the reply.

Btw, do i need to take ielts?

You don't need to take ielts... I know ielts is mandatory for SPP category..

But it you apply to any DLI they might request any English language proficiency test...

Such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEFL IBT, CAEL, AND OTHERS depending on the institution you apply.. And you should attach those results along with your application...

does a student only allowed to work within the campus for 20 hours or could work wherever as long as it is just 20 hours?

thanks again for the rely.

My wife is not working as of now, and age is 30 years. We have no kids. She is bachelors of commerce with accounting major.
So, can she become eligible for applying under student visa?

And do she need to take ielts?

Pls reply.

You dont need IELTS for visa but you might need some english proficiency test for admission into a institution...

First get admission into any instituion... then worry about visa

I m from India and my age is 36 years.
So do you think that I will be able to get admission in any of college?
What may be the possible hinderances and if I am eligible then how many months course I can join?
I wish to join business admin or financial planning course in any canadian college.

Your age is not an issue... Actually I just met a girl who is 36 as well going for a diploma course in Canada beginning in September... Good luck...

Depending on where you plan to apply you will get different requirements...

Good luck with it

I really wouldn't be able to tell you that since my field is complete different... I mean the best advice I can give you is try searching institution in smaller cities.. For example don't look in Toronto or Vancouver... Try small towns... Where universities and institutions have higher acceptance rates, they are cheaper, finding a place where live is cheaper and easier to find...

CIC has a list of DLI (Designated learning institutions) where you can search for the program you are looking for..

got a question again, lets say for example im on a study permit, then an employer offer me for a lmia based work , is it possible that i can get the full time work permit while im on a study permit? thanks
