I have called multiple times Immigration and nobody seems to help. The Federal government tells to me to check with Quebec and Quebec immigration tells me to check with Federal government.
My wife is a canadian and my sponsor. I work here and even obtained a diploma in Canada. My post diploma work permit expires in 10 months.
We applied under the Federal government because according to what we understood, they were supposed to check our application and send us a letter accepting or refusing my wife as a sponsor. After that, we would use that letter of eligibility and apply for an undertaking application with Quebec since we are living and working in Quebec (Gatineau, next to Ottawa).
The thing is that we applied last April (2018), so it has been more than a year and we never received that letter. Cic, however communicated with me several times asking for Police certificates, and on september 2018, medical exam. They indicate in the online status that they started processing our application since December 2018.
I don t get it, When will be the part where they send us the letter and we start applying under Quebec ? Because I get the feeling that Quebec is out of the picture here, whereas when I read the instructions at the beginning of the sponsorship application, I thought that I read it clearly : If we live in Quebec, we apply under federal government and then, when we are approved, we start the process with Quebec.
Is it normal that after a year still nothing ? If they sent me communication to do the medical exam and that I passed the exams, does that mean that I am pre approves ?
Am I missing something here ?
Just as an FYI, we are not interrested in living in quebec, we actually don t care and we prefer to do just one process, with the federal government instead of having to do both, but it s just that we fear that we may be missing something here.
