Hello,

My husband arrived in Calgary on April 15, 2010. We are just waiting for his PR card to arrive in the mail. Once we receive the card, can we go on a little holiday?

I was told by someone that you cannot leave the country for 6 months once you arrive. Is the true?

I have also read that as long as you have your PR card you can travel as long as you are in Canada a certain amout of days out of 5 yrs.

So i guess my question is...Can we go on a little holiday even if he has only been here 4 months as long as he has his PR card?

Thanks! ;D

There is no 6 month rule. Whoever told you that is wrong. The only requirement is that he must stay in Canada for at least 730 days in his first 5 years as a PR and any 5 year period after that. Time spent in another country accompanying a Canadian citizen spouse also counts as time spent in Canada.

One more question please ;)

If we take a holiday to Mexico...does he need anything else besides his PR card?
