Hello there, I applied PR last year and just received the medical exam letter today and don't know what to do, please find my story:
I came to Canada in 2013 to study and when I had the medical exam (in china) for the study permit I was notified I had hep c test positive and they needed to check my liver functioning, so I did it and passed the medical exam. I learned I had hep c but it's not too serious, back then the only treatment is some interferon with many side effects so I didn't treat it and kept studying-working till now.
Last November I went back to china for a bit and did more medical check, realized my hep c is getting worse (virus load very high and liver fibrosis of F1 stage), I learned the treatment now are very new anti virus medicine but they are super expensive, I came back to Canada and did the tests here too to try to find the treatment now. From what I've searched now, India has the same type of licensed copy medicine which are way cheaper, but the newest one - good for my type of hep c hasn't launched yet but will be soon.
Now I have to do the pr medical exam within a month and I honestly don't know if I should disclose my condition during the exam - I read from so many places that seems in BC the exam only checks for HIV and Syphilis. Which means if I don't say anything the doc might not check for hep c at all. But if I do that, I don't know if CIC will cross check my medical records and find out I'm hiding it. ( also when I did the hep c virus test here, I was already on the record of the local public health unit)
Or I can bring all my test results to the exam and maybe get a specialist to write a report of my condition prior to the medical exam. But this way I fear I will be rejected completely. As my virus load is so high and I'm waiting for the new medicine in India.
If anyone knows what I should do please let me know, I am really worried and don't want to ruin my application. Also if my condition will most likely be rejected, please advise if there is any other ways I can apply again?
Thanks so much.
