Hi All,

Iam confused whether to go for SPP or general application for study permit.

my profile:

10th: 60%
12th: 74%
Batchelor of Arts: 54% (Passed in 2003 - No backlogs)
18 Months diploma in Computer Networking (Private Institution)
Ielts: 7.5(no less than 7)
Total Work Experience - 8 Years
Work Experience - Desktop Support, Senior IT Engineer. Presently working as Project Management - Operations Analyst

Present company has agreed to provide me letter stating iam working here as Project Management - Operations Analyst for pursuing higher education.
is it a good course to choose after having worked in IT field for 8 years. My previous education doesn't match with present job.
Iam married and my wife works as Contract Admin specialist.

Seneca Project management costs around 15k $
Can i just take a loan of 15K $.I already have 10k $ in my account which i can use for GIC. Do i need to show any other funds?. I dont have any savings in my or wife account apart from 10K$ which i will be using for GIC.

Please suggest

Thanks

Apply under General..

And if possible try to put your wife's ITRs and say that she can help you with her income as well..

your loan is exactly equal to the course fee, and GIC may not cover your total living expenses for your entire duration of stay..that is how the VO may look at it..so they can think you will be dependant on part time jobs..

if you cant put any other sources of income..then go for SPP, because in SPP u will need only GIC..and attach an SOP explaining how this course can be helpful to your career..n also mention that your wife resides in India, so you will have to come back once your are done with your studies..

Applying in SPP should be your last resort...since you are married and mature student, it will give an impression of responsibilities ..so, obviously just a GIC wont help..

infact a loan and GIC too wont ..you should show as if you have sufficient funds for ur study and on top of that well enough in the worst cases for you and your wife..

I applied for visa in general..i did my undergrad studies 7 yrs back..the plus point i had was, i am not married and my father is still working..so, i put his ITRs and took an affidavit that he can sponsor me..i chose general only to show good funds..

and yes, please pay atleast 1st sem fee while applying for visa..

Winsor,

Thanks for your reply. Iam making my profile a bit sronger by arranging some funds into my wife and my account.

Thanks again.

Project management course is in line with your work experience. Highlight this fact in the SOP.

Other than that, you can also highlight the fact that you hold a diploma in computers and go for an IT related degree or diploma, if IT is your first priority. By the way, with 8 years experience in IT, I believe you should have a good chance of immigrating. Did you look into that option?

Yes i did look about chances of immigrating. Unfortunately my education is not related to my profession :(

Ok. I would suggest you first try at least one time for a student visa. And if rejected, you may want to try for immigration directly after completing an IT related Masters (maybe from SMU or other distance university). You can complete a Sikkim Manipal MSc in 1-1/2 years or thereabouts.

Anyways, have you applied yet for any college?
