Hi guys

I'm from South Africa. I've been accepted at York University in Toronto to study Film.
I sent in my Visa application on June 27th and still haven't heard anything.
I start University on September 7th. My plane ticket was bought in advance by my parents for August 14th.
Please advise, do you think I'll get my Visa on time?

hey visa is a tricky thing it may take weeks or you can get in just few days as there will be many files piled up.. don't worry you will get it..all the best

I was told weeks. Then I saw their website and it said 4 weeks. Now I see it says 8 weeks! And then they'll still want a medical from me, right?
And surely at this time of the year, they'll see that the visa needs to be processed asap cos it's now near the end of July and university begins in September.

Thanks for being so positive, though :D I really hope I get it on time!

no problem and yup medical has to be done....they will inform you....t.c

Will I be told about the medical before the 8 weeks?

8 week is the initial response time. Initial response could be either of the following:
1. Medical Call (hopefully this would be the case)
2. Request for more documentation
3. Rejection

But there won't be time for a medical if they only respond towards the end of August. Then what do I do? Surely they know that University starts soon and that they need to contact me.
