Please help.Explanation of passports do not cover the entire period

Hello seniors ,
i wrote this explanation as my son passports has gap in renewal . Please can someone make corrections in my statement or write any better statement for me ?

Dear Officer ,
I "XYZ " father of "ABC "overlooked the expiry date of my son " ABC " passport No XYZ. When this thing came to my notice his passport XYZ was already expired . I immediately started the renewal procedure for his passport XYZ and this gap is only because I started his passport renewal procedure late and its only the time took by Government of XYZ to process my son new passport XYZ .This is the reason ABC Passports do not cover the entire period of review.

Hello,

Not having a valid passport during a specific period is nothing suspicious.
You could go with a simple "Didn't realize the passport was expired and had no travel plans during that period", which IRCC will be absolutely fine with, but if you want to get specific, the text you wrote in the first message definitely does the job.

My kid's passport had a gap for a year between the original and renewal. I just wrote that there was no intention to leave Canada in that period, thus no need to renew the passport.
