Hi Everyone

I need your advise in my case.

I am 33 years old and am interested to pursue studies in Canada. I did my 12th in 2000 and my bachelors in 2004 in hotel management, but could not complete due to some personal reasons and now am trying to write 2 exams after which I will be able to get my degree. But my case is with the ministry of education awaiting approval as many years have passed since 2004 and I have to get their permission to appear for the exams.

I understand that without a bachelors degree I cant do postgraduate courses in Canada , but considering my age and the long gap in education will I get visa if I get admission in some 2 year diploma course?

I really want to go to Canada and am willing to look at any options.

Kindly advise what should I do ? If I do a diploma in India ( my country) and then apply again to Canada, will it help to show visa officer that I am serious about my studies?

Also I am interested to go to Ontario. I have heard that there is higher chances of admission in not so competitive universities or in regions where they require immigrants. Is this true and if yes what universities do you recommend?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

If you have work experience or some valid reasons to cover the gap than visa will be achievable.

Thanks Dipta for your reply.

I was asking this as I recently visited a representative of Algonquin college in Delhi and he just blatantly told me that I do not want to give you any hope but Canada does not want people like you with so much gap in education and no bachelors also !!

:(

Hope more people can shed some light

what did u do in the gap? do u have work exp?

Yes I have been working since 2004, last year of college continuously initially in hotels , then retail and sales.

Now I am in a managerial position in Dubai . I am on vacation in India and thought will check out my options so went to Algonquin college office in Delhi and this is what he said.

I think you should always give it a chance , you never know , you may even get the visa.

One of the consultant told me there was a case in which a student had done graducation in 2004,yet his visa was approved in SPP this year.

Sorry but not really familiar with the abbreviations used here ,.. what do you mean by SPP?

And also I have come across GIC a number of times, what does that stand for ?

And do you recommend that I should apply on my own or go through a consultant ?

Thanks

good u have work exp was it relevant exp? is it related to ur bachelors field?

The first 2 years , yes I was specifically in the hotel industry then later I was more into hospitality( like retail, sales) which is also partly related to what we cover in Hotel Management . I want to pursue Diploma in Business Management , which is relevant to what I am doing now.

SPP is program by which you can apply for visa to study in Canadian college with minimum documentation like Finance.
You can apply for SPP only once , it it gets rejected you can reapply under General Category.

GIC - Gauranted Income Certificate is what you need to show for living expences to Visa Officer.
You can Purchase GIC from Scotia bank which will cost you minimum of 10100 CAD $.

Yes Consultants do help and guide you with right program , but don't totally rely on consultants , do you personal reseach as well.
Applying consultants might even save the application fees when you apply to colleges.

Yes, I guess I need to choose the right program to make my application stronger.

Siddhesh398 , do you recommend some good consultants in Delhi area if you are aware of any ?

Thanks guys for your inputs, really appreciate it .
