I did Bcom and Masters in Business Management & Finance from UK and worked for 1 year with an IT Advisory firm under code 2171.
My NOC duties match with code 2171
I got Ontario Nomination PNP in October and now applied to CIC,do you think that my education not being in IT can be a reason for rejection post ITA?

Anyone with a B.com or Business degree got PPR in code 2171.

Please reply
thanks

No. For the purpose of EE, education and experience do not have to be in the same field.

I believe for foreign work experience, it has to be in the same field. It is only for Canadian work experience under CEC that it does not have to be in the same field.

No, CIC even say that work experience does not have to match noc

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/fsw/minimum.asp

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by CIC staff.

"Minimum work experience requirement....

......the applicant must have

performed the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation as set out in the occupational description of the NOC [R75(2)(b)]; and
performed a substantial number of the main duties, including all of the essential duties, of the occupation as set out in the occupational description of the NOC [R75(2)(c)].

Note: The applicant does not need to demonstrate that they meet the “employment requirements” listed in the NOC occupational description."

Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Why is Saskatchewan rejecting applicants in 2171 with B.com Degree.

Also there is a rumour that the visa officer at IRCC has discretionary power regarding education and work exp in 2171,if he/she feels the education/degree is not related to the NOC they may reject on discretionary basis.

Thanks for your reply.

That's what I meant and I think it is on CIC website. The job can be different but I believe provided it should be in the same NOC for foreign work experience. I'm not sure about that; may be those experienced in this forum can answer that.

For SINP, work experience and education must match. It says so clearly in SINP's application guide.

What about the discretionary power the visa officer has at IRCC Level:
The education and work exp in 2171,if he/she feels the education/degree is not related to the NOC they may reject on discretionary basis?

Can any senior expert comment on this.

Thanks

Nope. There are people on this forum who have successfully gained PR with work experience that is completely unrelated to their education.

This shouldn't be the case. The VO can't just do as they please; there are rules governing what is and is not acceptable. Of course, the rules are open to interpretation, and that is up to the VO.

But as long as the VO is convinced that you are indeed fulfilling the duties you claim to be, your work experience should be accepted, regardless of education.

If you express entry profile shows you are eligible provided you put the same information with respect to NOC (different NOC), then you should not worry.
