Dear reader,

According to the new legislations announced by the new minister I have some queries regarding our family's permanent residence application!

We applied for federal skilled class worker before February 27, 2008, actually my mother is the principal applicant and my family includes my father, myself, my sister & a brother (I being the eldest). As per the old procedure the process may take much longer time period but with the new system introduced the process is much much faster.

My question is that the principal applicant i.e. my mother lies in one of the qualifying occupations stated on the internet where as I also meet the requirements of one of the qualifying occupations! The only thing that is worrying us is that do we need to resubmit our case under the new system or it will automatically be updated at the immigrations office?

Please advice!!!

New rules do not apply to those who applied before 27th Feb. Your mum's application will be reviewed at its turn and no one knows how faster/slower will that be after the new changes have come in place.  If your mum wants to withdraw her application and apply again under the new rules, that's her choice but the danger with submitting a new application is that the list could change or even the whole lot of recent changes could get repealed. (You know that politicians often say one thing and do another). ...But if I was her I'd just roast a nice big turkey on Christmas day and enjoy it with family and forget about the world.
