Please advice - what type working visa I can apply while I am waiting for PR

Hi there,

I am married to a Canadian citizen and she is sponsoring me. I am waiting for my Permanent Residence sponsorship application to get approve.
I applied in December 2013 and the status of the application online showing that they have received my Medical records and I still waiting for the next step.

I have a British passport and I have a Master and Bachelor Degrees MSc and BSc in IT (Business and Web technology).

I am not happy with my current job and I want to move to Canada asap and start working.
My wife working as a Technical Consultant in Canada.
Can I apply for a open work permit\ skilled or temporary work permit? which one is most suitable for me
is there any work visa allow me to go to Canada in short term to work while i am waiting for the Permanent Residence visa to come through.

I can stay as a visitor in Canada for up to 6 months without a visa but I want to work.
can i apply for a work visa without an Employment letter or job letter?
I am not sure which employer is willing to offer a job and wait 2 months
or is it possible to apply for a open work permit when I am there as a visitor...

Please advice at this stage what options are available for me.

You do not qualify for an open work permit.

If you want to work before your PR visa is approved, then you will first have to find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job. That employer will then have to advertise the job for a minimum of one month to prove that no Canadian could be found for the role. Next the employer will have to submit a Labour Market Opinion application to request permission to hire you (processing times for LMOs is anywhere from 6-20 weeks). If the LMO is approved, you can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.

Is it possible for me to go to Canada first as a Visitor and then apply for a job and apply for the work permit visa from there. Is it legal to do or i have to be outside the country to apply for a work permit.
