Hi guys, for context- I'm a 19 year old Indian student residing in UAE by my dad's sponsorship. I applied for study permit and wrote an SOP explaining my expat status and my plans after graduating in Canada but omg I've been feeling really anxious due to this lately

I'm a transfer student, so I've done 2 years of BBA in UAE and successfully transferred to a uni in Canada, where I have to complete the remaining 2 years. I explained this as well and attached transcripts, and I explained that after graduating, I would head back to India where I would start a restaurant business with my cousin there, and this where Ive recently started getting panicky cuz now idk if the VO's will be impressed by it

I explained that my cousin has culinary experience as he partook in his own family restaurant, so he would be more into culinary and I would be more into the business and management side of our venture, hence making use of the knowledge I gain from my degree where I would specialize in the entrepreneurship concentration of BBA

I saw in forums advising that as an expat living in the Middle East, one should not mention that they wish to come back here to work as the VO's believe the job market here is too bad and will reject on those bases, so I didnt. Also, i mentioned that I'm going back to india to express that I do have strong family ties there, and I had shown property papers and investments that my parents have there. But now I just dont knowww

Idk if my plan that I wrote is valid enough, should I explain that my plan has changed in a webform?
And if I should change the plan, what should it be? Im just so lost right now. I know that it definitely is possible to get study permit approval while being an expat, but I'm really scared about my application lol

Hey Roro,

Please breathe. Don't panic. You have a strong profile. You will surely get through.

Cheers

Personally, I would not have said I was going straight into running a business after graduation without prior work experience in the field I just graduated in. I would have highlighted job opportunities/employment prospects in India that is available to me upon graduating.

That doesn't mean that your idea wouldn't work, it all depends on how you articulated your plan.

As said above, all you can do now is wait for the decision, cross your fingers and hope for the best. Worrying about it doesn't change anything, it just robs you of the opportunity to enjoy the present moment.

First thing you have to ask yourself, why would the VO believe you?

What if you don't have a place to stay in India, and you can't return to UAE? What happens after the end of your studies? Where can you go? You have to prove that you have been living in India before you submit your application, or you have been living in India for a long time.

If you "just mention" you are returning to India, no VO would be convinced.
