Hi , My friend is filing citizenship for family. His tax filing is such that everyone resided in Canada for the tax years but in actuals, wife and kid were present in Canada for only 2 months each in last 2 years. Will this cause issues in their Citizenship application as CRA shares their tax filing info with IRCC.

Yes, it will, probably she got her child benefits, when cra will find it out, they will ask to return all money

Thank you for the response. yes, that is correct. It was filed as family and that needs to be returned. is it okay to go ahead with application and reasses if asked to? Or, better to file reassessment of those 2 years before applying Citizenship? Or, not worth it to bother now but when questioned.

I do not know how to deal with CRA but it’s about presence in Canada , do they have enough dates to file application

Thanks for response. Yes, they have more than required number of days considering last 5 years. But, it is the discrepancy where they showed they were in Canada to CRA for 2 years, but they were outside Canada most of those 2 years. Unsure how IRCC evaluates/reviews the tax assessment. Will it cause an issue with IRCC or not, was the question?

I would get consultation from immigration lawyer, so they can assist with your application better
