Hi all

I'm an international graduate student (holding study permit) taking my master program at University of Waterloo. It is a biology-thesis based program and I'm right now in my last term, so I have already been studying full-time for 2 years. Here's the problem:

I recently found I missed one of my milestones - a 2hrs' long workshop. I talked to my department and was told I had to enroll for next fall semester in order to attend the workshop, which means I have to pay the tuition ($6000+) for next term - just to attend that 2hrs' long workshop..

I was recommended to enroll as a part-time for next term so I can save $3000, but I'm wondering if doing so will have bad effects on my PGWP application?

I already called CIC Call Centre but didn't get any helpful answers...

Thank you in advance, any help will be much appreciated.

Based on what we've seen here, if you are part time for your last semester you are fine. If you are part time for your last two semesters, then you will probably have issues obtaining a PGWP.

Hey senior,

please kindly advise with your experience.

i apply online via mycic during june. it takes about 3months to process application from my country.

my worries now is that i paid 1st semester fees of 7k+ CAD to college. but i did not attach proof of payment to the online application, as am stll waiting to received it from school.

althou i mention in my SOP that i already paid first semester fees.

you think CIC/ VO will carefully read SOP and be aware that i have paid?

You think they will be patient to ask schools if i have paid or not?

because mostly in SA they usually request more document like bank statement or something .

so am afraid VO might just take decision without be sure that i have paid.

they mostly concern about finances expecially cic in southafrica.

If you have mentioned then they might ask you for proof which can further delay your application. One thing you must check if you can upload another document while waiting. Because on Paper based application, you can submit any further document anytime to the VAC office regarding your application. You should check if they give you any option to online submit any document.

I agree with Ahmed. Please check if you can upload additional document.
I'm sure you can modify something of your application online after it has been submitted, like address change etc., but not sure if you can upload additional file.
Call the CIC Call Centre and let them know your situation, since you have an active application they might be willing to help ;)

Thank you scylla, that's exactly what I was just told by International Student Office at UW.

Newest update:

I talked to the international student advisor of UW and was told that there won't be any problem (only) if the LAST term was part-time.

Hope it helps.
