Hi guys were planning to apply for a common law sponsorship in 2016. My student visa will expire in 2017 and according to cic the processing time for in land application for spouse and common law is 3 years or 25 moNths. What should I do if we process our sponsorship application in 2016 and my visa will expire in 2017, am I eligible to extend my TRV or am i elogible to apply for owp? I think student visa connot be renewed right? many people here in this forum said that it is not advisable to go back to my home country while our application is ongoing in Canada?

If you apply inland, and you leave, you risk having problems with CIC. If you are refused entry for any reason, your application is lost. If you are outside Canada for any length of time, you are technically in violation of the requirements of applying inland, which are to live in Canada with your spouse.

If you choose to apply inland, you can apply for an OWP. There's a pilot project at the moment, which should grant OWPs to applicants within about 4 months, however it's only for a year.

It may be in your best interest to apply outland, depending on your home country. It could be much faster, and it allows you the freedom to travel.

Oh i see. so it means that the pilot project is provided to those applicants who are still waiting for the decision from the embassy. So the 4 months owp is that a maximum alReady? What if after that 4 months still you does'nt hear anything from the embassy?

That's not at all what it means. It means that applicants inland should get their OWP in 4 months, instead of waiting 17+ months. It's not a maximum. It's CIC, so no one is still sure if they will really get their OWP within 4 months or not.

Ah alrigt,I got youre point now after reafding the cic website regarding the pilot. so I think the best way to apply is by in land coz you will get another OWP while waiting for the desicion From them right? why did CIC make a pilot project?
