hi it's me again. we will be applying our sponsorship in 2016 and my TRV(student visa) will expire in july 2017. and were planning to apply inland. is it advisable to also apply for OWP for me while my visa will expire in 2017? the processing time is 25 months right? student like me is eligible to apply for PGWP for 3 years and i will surely apply in 2017 ( 90 days before the TRV will expire) after my study. is it okay to apply PGWP while our sponsorship is still on process?

what can you advise guys? is it fine to apply for OWP as early in 2016? is it advisable to just send a sponsorship application and owp to those students who are elgiible or 3 years pgwp?

few considerations:

1. we don't know if OWP will be still applicable in 2016 since it's only an one year pilot program at this stage. heck, inland may be a totally different by then.
2. you need to get pgwp within 3 months on getting last marks from the institution. current study permits aren't exactly valid till their expiry date if you stop going to school for more than a semester. so you would need to check when the final exams are and apply accordingly. dont wait till 90 days before study permit expires, it may have expired before that.
3. you will be applying for OWP at the time for applying for PR which will be long before the graduation happens anyway.
4. if in ontario, the OWP for PR has a clause 27 which helps with OHIP.
5. PGWP is for 3 years compared to 2 for PR OWP. so if you have a job read PGWP is better, considering how long PR takes.
