I am an international student studying Math/CA in University of Waterloo First year and i know that its still a long way till graduation but can someone tell me the procedure of getting a pgwp?
You ask the university and government for a work permit for a year and you have to find a job in that one year? is this how the process goes? Is there a cap for each profession ?

Hi,

1. It's a process between you, your school & CIC.
2. Job offer is not required for PGWP application. Instead, you will have to pack your bag back to home if failed to find a job with in a PGWP duration.
3. It's an 'Open Work Permit, so no cap.
4. Process: www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad-who.asp
Application: www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/work-students.asp

Thanks a lot bro

Hi guys. I would really appreciate some help on this since I believe my situation is very unique.
I was doing Masters from Queen's University.
My study permit expired 2015Aug12. I just finished and defended my thesis on 2015Aug28.
I understand that in order for me to apply for my PGWP i need to apply for the restoration of my status. But I have a few questions.

1. Do I apply for PGWP and restoration together in one package?
2. How can I apply for the restoration of my study permit since I have technically graduated? Or do I apply for restoration of some other status? Please advise.
3. Also since I defended after my study permit expired does that mean that I studied "illegally" and will be kicked out of Canada? I'm freaked out. Please tell me what I can do.

According to CIC website, you must have valid student permit when you apply for PGWP.
so I recommend you should talk to international student service at your school.
