Hello everyone,

I have been studying in Canada for almost 7 years and did 2 programs: 3-year and 2-year programs. Things did not go well with the 3-year program as I failed one course in my 3rd semester and that course happened to be a prerequisite of another course in the 4th semester and those 2 courses combined were prerequisites of another course in the 5th and 6th semester. Thus, I had to extend my studying for that course for 1 more year and I did it part-time as I carefully thought that I was allowed to be a part-time student as long as it was the final academic session according to CIC laws. Unfortunately, I did not succeed to pass that course so I decided to register for a 2-year program and leave the 3-year program behind. Then, in the last year of the 2-year program, I was encouraged to take that one course of the 3-year program and miraculously I was able to pass everything and got 2 diplomas in May 2020.

I started to apply for a post-graduate work permit online and submitted all needed documents in July 2020. Everything was fine and dandy until today I received an email update from CIC saying that I did not meet a requirement of "remaining a full-time student in Canada during each academic session of program or programs and have completed a program of study that is at least 8 months in duration at a designated institution". I have been a full-time student for every year except for the period where I had no other choices but to take that one course and it happened to be a 1-year course to complete the 3-year program (and I failed to complete it).

Has anyone been in the same situation? If yes, what should I do now? Am I allowed to reapply for a PGWP by opening a new application and submitting more documents to clearly explain to the officers? Or do I have to call IRCC and ask for a status restoration along with PGWP reapplying by mail instead of online? Also, my study permit is still valid until November 30, 2020, which gives me 25 more days, does it mean that I am not out of status yet? Thus I do not need to apply for a status restoration and only need to apply for a PGWP by mail? I have so many questions and concerns combined with frustration and worries. Please help me out and sorry for the long read. All responses are extremely appreciated and helpful!

Thank you all!
