Hi guys,

Does anyone know if there is a problem applying for the PGWP at the POE?

Here is my situation:
- Just finished all my requirements of my 2-year college diploma (no gaps, full-time study on all semesters)
- Visa / Study Permit / Co-op WP expire in March
- I already have the graduation letter from the college and official transcript (both sealed in an envelope)
- I have an opportunity of work, but the employer requires the work permit (won't consider the ongoing application, reason why I would choose to go to the POE to do it instead of waiting)

So basically my questions are:
- Is it OK to apply there?
- If so, do I need to apply online first and process my application there or will I have to do everything at the POE?
- Will I risk receiving a 2-year PGWP or would be safe to say that at the POE I would still receive 3 years?
- Will I need to leave Canada and come back to do it? Simulate an entrance? Will I get an entry refused to the US to do this (I have a US visa)?

Thanks!!

You can just go to closest border. That would be fine.
- If so, do I need to apply online first and process my application there or will I have to do everything at the POE?
No. you don't have to do any online formalities. You need study -permit, official transcript, course completion letter from college, and money(cash/debit/credit card)
- Will I risk receiving a 2-year PGWP or would be safe to say that at the POE I would still receive 3 years?
No. there is no risk as in your case no gaps, full-time study on all semesters
- Will I need to leave Canada and come back to do it? Simulate an entrance? Will I get an entry refused to the US to do this (I have a US visa)?
Yes you need to cross the border and go to States and they will give you a administrative refusal and return back to Canadian side. You need to show that letter(administrative refusal form) on Canadian side, that's all. Doesn't matter you have States visa or not. Anyone can get PGWP on border.

Thanks!!

Yeah, you just need to travel to USA and then come back to Canada with your passport, study permit, official transcript and certificate or diploma (or confirmation letter of certificate or diploma) and ur credit card. Reminder, when you visit to USA, u must be TRV exempt or must hold valid TRV. Good luck.

Hi there all
I have completed my master which was for 2 years but I couldn't finish in 2 years so I took extra 3 months to complete it. Does it effect on getting PGWP from the port of entry? Do I need to fill up the IMM5710E Form before I go to Port?

Thanks
