Hello,

I just received a message about my PGWP being approved but I received a correspondence letter telling me about a WP-EXT and eTA with a validity until 2023/07/17. Is this normal and will I get another letter for the PGWP?

Dear X,

Your application to stay in Canada as a temporary resident has been approved. Your permit has been mailed to you at the address you gave us when you applied.

If you have not received your document within six weeks from the date of this letter, contact us by completing this Web form.

Please note that this letter is a notification only. It is not valid for travel and is not a permit allowing you to stay in Canada.

Document to travel to Canada or re-enter

A study or work permit is not a travel document. To allow you to travel to or re-enter Canada by air only, we have issued you an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) when we issued your permit extension. Your eTA is linked to the passport that you used to apply for your permit renewal. You must travel with this same passport. If you get a new passport, you will need to get a new eTA.

To learn more about eTA, visit Canada.ca/eTA.

Thanks for your help.

UPDATE

It seems they made a mistake, I just checked my passport and it coincides with the validity date, July 17, but my passport expires until 17 July 2030. Maybe someone mistook it for 2023 for some reason. I will try to see if it can be fixed by using the webform and calling an agent.

Is your passport expiring in July?
never seen this before .. when did you apply for your PGWP?

I just saw and yes it expires in July 17 but in 2030, my guess is that they saw it wrong and thought it expired on 2023. I will try to call and see if it can be fixed. I already sent a webform but I want to move quickly.
