Hello, Im Algerian citizen and Native French Speaker, i have been in Canada (Ontario) since septembre 2013 with a student permit i have done 9 months in a ESL school, finished in May, i got an off campus work permit untill the end of my study permit but i havnt worked yet, my visa ends on 16 august 2014 i have applied in 12th july for a post-graduation work permit and i got refused on 24th july for the reason of : My school was not a post-secondary school. I would like to know if ... i can still apply for a six-months visitor visa even if i just got rejected my PGW...And how does the Implied Statut works in Canada ? is it legit if i stay here in Canada untill i get an answer for my visitor visa application even tho my visa ends on 16th of August ?

Also can the proof of financial support be from my former country ? ex: (my parents gonna support me but they are not in canada) ??

Thanks a lot in advance.

You are mixing concepts. TRV is only valid for entry to Canada, once in it doesn't matter if it expires or not, what matters is that you have a valid status in Canada.

From the dates you are giving you don't know if you have a valid status. When does your study permit expire?

Also you mention your "visa ends", does it expire, do you have an annotation in your passport that says you are only allowed to stay until august or you are making a 6 months count?

Please clarify.

Implied status:

If you submit an application while on a valid status then you default to implied status from when the status expires to when the decision is made.

Yes, it can. Now would it work? hard to know, any changes from your original application can change things, also it depends as you have already stated you wish to stay as a worker, and now as a visitor. Your case has to be strong.

Thanks for your answer, here is some clarification.

OK, I came to Canada in September on a student permit, and this permit is valid until August 16. I have an annotation in my passport indicating this. I applied for a Post-graduation work permit at the beginning of July, after receiving an off-campus work permit, to extend my stay in Canada and it got rejected (July 24). Now, I just want to remain in Canada as a visitor. The CIC website says that I can apply for a TRV while in the country, at a Visa Processing Centre, by mail. Do you know if this is really possible? Can I also do this online?

Thanks again, I await your response.

Yes, you can do it inside Canada to a CPC, do it ASAP.

Your best move is to file a "Extend my stay as a visitor" http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp

Yes, you have passed the 30 days notice so do it ASAP.

You need both documents.

But can I extend my stay as a visitor when I'm a student not a visitor? Is my student permit considered a temporary resident visa?

And what do you mean by both documents?

Thanks!

You don't have another choice. If you wished to extend your stay as a student you would have to provide letter of acceptance or of enrollment, this is a requiered document for extending your stay as a student.

No, your study permit is not considered a TRV they are different documents. TRV allows you to enter to Canada, the Study Permit allows you to study in Canada.

Maybe we should hear from other expert. As far as I know this is your only option.
