Dear members,

My dad (62 yrs old) has been having painful knees for last ~2 years but he has been managing with exercises, pain meds (rarely needed) etc fine and does not need surgery right away (as you know that knee surgeries are elective and depends how much the issue is affecting patient's life...since he is managing fine, he does not feel the need of surgery right away). We are expecting to get medical request in a year or two and I am wondering if this is something that can be a problem for the medical exam. I mean he walks fine except may be not like a 20-30 yrs old. If he keeps himself in shape for weeks before the medical and is able to walk almost properly, is it something that they still point out in medicals?

Just wanted to know if any one has dealt with similar situation and how...

Thanks so much in advance!!!

If his knees are bad enough that the doctor doing the physical for immigration thinks he will need surgery soon, this can be a reason for rejection. If it is not that bad, then it should be OK.
If it looks like it might be an issue, one way to deal with it is to get the surgery outside of Canada before the medical is done.
