My father’s name on his passport has a spelling error in his first name. He has been using the passport with the incorrect name for many years now. All of his other national identity documents have his correct name (like voter ID card, Aadhaar card, driver’s license).
I entered my father’s given name as per his passport name (which has a spelling error) in the PGP sponsorship interest form as well.
My question is: what would you recommend doing?
1. Change the name on the passport to the correct name?
Or
2. Keep the given name the same as per the passport and get a notary/affidavit stating both names belong to the same person?
Also, later on, after getting PR, if my father corrects his name on his passport, can he then change the name on the PR card as well?
