So this is probably a weird question but I'm curious and wondering what is most likely to happen to an ex of mine in Canada.
We applied for a partner visa in Australia, I paid half as we were partners (he was from the UK). It was much work and took a really long time and we had to spend some time apart. During this time he met a canadian girl applied for a working visa to canada after which we broke up. He told me he had cancelled the visa as he had now got in a relationship with this girl. Anyway then I found out he never cancelled the Australian partner visa and it was in fact granted and he never told me, I found out from someone else he was keeping it just in case he didn't get the canadian work visa.
Anyway I contacted him to ask why he lied about cancelling the Australian visa and he got pretty defensive but then emailed the form stating that we had broken to australian government up but what the visa people response was that as long as he doesn't enter Australia after 2024 then the visa will naturally expire. So he can still enter as my partner for a few years.
So he is now in Canada, he is 31 british citizen and his 2 year working visa will finish in july 2021. How likely is it that he will be able to extend or stay there on a working visa? Or can he apply for another partner visa with his current gf in canada if this australian one is still valid?
Will Canada be stricter about companies sponsoring foreigners staying longer than their visa due to to job losses in covid affecting Canadian citizens.
Please only kind responses. I'm not wishing him any ill or anything and I hope he is happy. But I had to cut of contact with him as I was very hurt by the whole thing but I can't help but wonder what will happen to him because he was someone I cared about a lot at one time and I know that he will hate to go back to the UK as he hates it there?
So in a nutshell, will he be able to apply for a partner visa for canada whilst the Australian one is valid? And how easy or likely is it he will be able to extend his 2 year working holiday visa through other means such as employment sponsorship.
Oh and with covid will canada still let people fly home once their visa expires.
