Perminent residency card expired how to reenter canada

My permanent residency card expired in July 2010 and I applied for citizenship in feburary 2010 I'm waiting to hear back, I need to go back to England for a couple week in April 2011 for a friends wedding and am worried about my application still being processed, can and how do I get back into Canada with an expired card?

if ir still in canada renew ur pr card on urgent basis...will take around 3-4 weeks

Apply to renew your PR card based on your need to travel in April. They can renew PR cards on an urgent basis in a month so they should be able to swing it in 6 easily.

If for some reason you do not have a new PR card by April, go to the UK taking your landing papers with you. If you are a UK citizen, you do not need a PR card to board the plane since you are visa exempt to Canada and once you arrive in the airport, you can explain to them that you only have your landing papers because your PR card is being renewed.
