Permanent resident

Please I'm a citizen of Nigeria and I plan on going to university of Manitoba to study pharmacy. One of the requirement is that I've to be a citizen or have permanent residence. I plan on doing a one year science program before transferring to pharmacy. Is it possible to get permanent resident within that one year

I don't know if I'm meant to apply for pr along with my study visa
