Hello!

I am a permanent resident who just got married. I've applied for my marriage license but know that that can take the better part of 12 weeks. In the meantime, I am trying to gather all the forms I need to make my name changes to the various government agencies that need it.

I've been trying to find what I need to file for name change on my Permanent Resident Card with the CIC but the information I have found is very confusing. It seemed like it said that the name would NOT be changed for any reason other than CIC error. But I need to make sure that this card matches my health card, Driver's license and US passport. I can't imagine the hassle I would receive at the border if my passport had my married name and my PR card had my maiden name.

HELP!

Thank you!

It looks like you just use the application to renew your PR card. Indicate your change in name, include the relevant documents to substantiate your name change and send the completed application to Sydney, NS.

I've never done this, mind you, but it seems it should get you an updated PR card.
