hi there

it's been a while since i last proposed a question on here but maybe someone can help answer it. i think i know the answer, but if someone could just help confirm it that would be great. but first a little background...

my spouse (canadian citizen) and i (uk citizen) lived and worked in asia for quite a few years (that's where we met) before deciding to go through the whole process of becoming a PR. After the fun and games of completing the residency application, i became a PR at the end of august 2010. now, even though we've been here, in canada, for approx. 18months, we still think about going back to asia to work and travel. we thought the travel bug was out of our system, but once it gets you, it's so hard to get rid of.

so my question is this...

can we both leave the country and travel and work abroad for 12 months without it affecting my residency? i know as long as i'm present in the country for 2 out of every 5 years it's ok and if i'm with my spouse during that time i'm still considered "in canada" right?

any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

regards,
craig.

Yes - your PR status will be fine since you're accompanying a Canadian citizen.
