Hi,

I recently moved to canada with my wife and my son to finish my higher education. My wife is a permanent resident but my son and I are not. We have been married for thee years. She has been in canada a total of three months in the past 5 years. Can she sponsor me and if so should we wait to apply until she spends two years in canada or it's possible to apply now?

Thanks in advance for your help

She needs to stay for 2 full years, renew her PR card, and only then should start application to sponsor you.

If she entered Canada without being reported for not meeting residency obligations, she is very lucky. She should make sure she now stays in Canada for the full 2 years and doesn't leave for any reason whatsoever, as if she does there's a chance on her next re-entry she could be reported and lose her PR status.
