Hi Leon / Rob / Experts

Have been following the sound advice given to others on the forum for sometime now and need some of it!!!

My PR card validity expires in mid 2018 and have applied for a renewal based on H & C which is based on working outside in a bid to support the family (wife and teens in Uni) who have been staying in Canada for the last 5 years and are Canadian citizens. I have been visiting Canada twice a year (Indian PP) since the last 4 years to visit the family but for visits ranging 2-3 weeks at a time. I do pay my taxes as well.

From all the comments, I understand that my case is a weak one to get a renewal based on H & C and will need a lot of luck and a miracle to go thorugh
.
My plan is to only permanently settle in Canada within the next 2 years due to contractual obligations in my employment

Should a refusal or secondary review happen my options are to
1. Appeal
2 Voluntary renounce

Considering the long appeal process the other viable option is to renounce which seems more logical to me - Your expert advice please!!

If I do renounce:
Will this affect my application for spousal sponsorship? My wife was the primary applicant in our first application as well
Are there any other repercussions to renouncing the PR when I settle in Canada?
Ideally do I apply for this inland or out?
On renouncing does my SIN card etc automatically get cancelled and do I start all over again once my application is successful and I settle in Canada?
How long is the PR valid for under the spousal sponsorship? Is it for the same 5 years with RO requirements 2/5?

Would appreciate you guys or any others advice who have probably been in a similar situation on best route forward

Once your PR card expires, your visiting options reduce drastically to the crossing of the land border from the USA.

Sooner or later, you are likely to be reported during one of your visits. However, up until that point you remain a PR.

A PRTD is likely to be denied and at that time, given your weak H&C factors, you probably won't benefit from an appeal.

It's probably easier and quicker to let go of your PR status and have your spouse responsor you.

There is a much reduced chance of then obtaining a TRV to continue regular visits but the fact that you have been unwilling/unable to stay in Canada is actually a bonus in determining your eligibility.
