1. After they sent you the letter for your passport and medicals, do they just stamp your passport and send it back to you

2.is it just a stamp on the visa or is it a paper declaring that you are a permanent residence ?

P.s can the visa officer extend your medical exams validity after 1 year for a couple of months? So we handed in our medicals February 24 2012.

What other steps was done to finalize your applications. Thanks

There's no stamp, they send you two pieces of paper. You take them to the border or POE and then land.

as you're non-visa-exempt you will get 2 things: a visa in your passport ( to allow you to board a plane as airline staff are not trained to recognize a COPR), and 2 copies of the COPR - one with a picture attached, that the immigration officer will keep once you sign it, and they will issue your PR card with that - and a second one signed (at the border, don't sign it before), that you keep as an official proof that you become a PR, until your card arrives.

Your medicals can only be extended if they have been done within 15 months, AND they are the only thing preventing CIC from issuing your PR. You won't know that they are extended or not, until you get communication from CIC. So for now - it's just wait and see!
Good luck,
