Hello,
I received an email regarding the police certificate, has anyone recently went through that step? The deadline to submit the certificate is on the 30th of September...

I'm Ethiopian residing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Should I request a letter from my (Ethiopian) consulate? Or the Canadian consulate?

I'm so confused and running out of time (only 20 days, because govt. offices start working on the 10th of sept)

Why would you request a letter? Just go to the police agency where you live and tell them you need a police record check for immigration application.

The procedure is different for a few countries. For example, in my country, Colombia, you can't go to the police agency and tell them I need a police check for immigration application. They only give it directly to the embassy (does not go through my hands) and after the embassy has requested it with a consent form. In this case, the OP actually has to submit a letter from the Canadian visa office requesting the certificate. Please try to not jump into conclusions, requirements and procedures vary by country. It can bring bad consequences to provide misleading information. Have a good day.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/africa/ethiopia.asp On this link you can find the specific procedure to get a police check from Ethiopia. In case you can't get it within the period you've been asked to submit it by, ask for an extension explaining you've applied for it but it's going to take some time. Good luck

Wasn't jumping to any conclusions. I had asked why he would need a letter. I also find that when nobody has answered anybody for a couple or more hours I will try and help. Never led to any bad advice or consequences. You see here somebody came along and helped.
Many ppl use others on here and you never hear.of them anymore. I am one that will at least ask questions. And go back. This is how ppl learn. Oh wise one!

Thanks a lot for replying... appreciate it...

I thought it was like that too... But over here (in Saudi Arabia), I think I should be directed to them from either the Ethiopian (Because I'm ethiopian) or the canadian consulahe... so.. I'm not sure about this

I had tried to answer and some person came along and gave me heck for it. I replied to them. And lo and behold I wake up ad see they deleted their message. My thing is I answer and also learn right answer. Or I bring attention to the question. And a senior member will reply. I have posted before and nobody answered me. But that's okay.
I hope you have it figured out what you need to do.

You are over complicating yourself. Simply follow the instructions from the link I provided to you. If you want to search for Saudi Arabia instructions on how to get a police certificate, here it is: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/mid-east/saudi-arabia.asp
There is an easy online tool you can use for any country you need a police certificate from. You just have to read what the instructions say and follow them, that is all.

To whom it may concern....

Regarding my question above... I want to help the people after me and I believe that the procedures are as shown below:

And I'll confirm or edit right after I go through these steps

In Jeddah, the fingerprint dept. is next to the Islamic bank.

Submissions are between 8 am to 11 am.

The whole process for Saudi PCC is as follows:

1. Obtain the request letter from the Canadian Consul-General Office at Madina Road, Ali Reza Bldg.

2. The request letter from Canadian Consul-General Office should attested by the ministry of foriegn affairs (Cost 30 SAR)

3. Head to the fingerprint dept. (Along with: 2 photos, iqama copy, passport + copy -just in case-, the request letter that was obtained from the consulate after being attested ).

4. After 2 weeks, you will recieve and the pcc.

5. Take the PCC to any translation office to get it translated from Arabic to English. You pay SR 75 to 100 for it
