Hi guys,

I applied for a PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) through the consulate in Canada, and they said that it would take forever for them to verify and give me a PCC, and advised I make one from Pakistan instead. The person also told me that if I needed subsequent verification of the PCC through the Consulate once it was made in Pakistan, that I have the authorized relative mail it to them directly. They would call me to pick it up in person once they had verified the contents of the PCC.

So, my authorized relative made the PCC from Pakistan, and mailed it to them. I don't hear back for two weeks. I call the Consulate today and they tell me they can't accept my relative's affidavit and that I would need to have the Police contact them directly to verify my clearance. I asked them to provide some guideline on how I/my authorized relative would do this, and the person was completely clueless.

I'm probably going to go in person and talk to someone who actually knows a thing or two, but I was curious about what others of you have done here? Do I even need them to verify the PCC if it was made in Pakistan? Did you guys make yours through the Consulate or through a relative in Pakistan, and were there any issues?

Any help is really really appreciated.

Hi,

Just get your relative to send the original police clearance from Pakistan directly to you. There is no requirement from CIC to have your police clearance attested from the Pakistani Consulate.

If you have no contacts in Pakistan then apply through the consulate, they'll sleep over it for 4+ months, and there's no guarantee that you'll get it, I've been through it save yourself time.

So stressful! Thanks for the response. I will go to the consulate to get my certificate and ask them if I can send it as is. It seems like dealing with Pakistanis from the federal government is a nightmare irrespective of where they are.
