Hello folks,
Is there a way to submit police clearance request at the Indian Consulate, Houston without the original Indian passport ( I can drive to Houston if they want to see the original passport and will give it back)?
I have read in some old forums that for PCCs, Houston has an option where they accept a copy of the passport initially and once they get the confirmation from authorities in India, I can send in the passport and they will stamp the PCC and they will return it in 3-4 days (since they have already completed the background research). Is this true?
My IELTS is expiring soon and have scheduled one for 7/29 and need my passport for that.
Also, my passport is expiring in another 8 months. So my plan is to
1. Apply for PCC first without original passport
2. Take IELTS
3. Send passport to consulate after getting notification that they received the clearance to attest PCC on my passport and get it bavk soon.
4. Respond to ITA (at 434, expecting one soon, didnt pay attention before when my profile expired back in late last year and reregistered only last week. This score is expiring second week of July.)
5. Submit passport renewal request
Want to get a new passport since when the inital entry visa is approved its expiry wont be limited by my passport expiry.
Also, since my current passport was issued in India my assumption is that getting a PCC first might help in quick processing of my passport as well.
